R.I.P. MICHAEL HUTCHENCE
Michael Hutchence was an Australian vocalist who was born in Sydney, Australia on January 22nd, 1960. He is best remembered as lead singer of the pop-rock band, INXS. With Hutchence at the forefront, this group achieved international success with hits such as “Need You Tonight”, “New Sensation”, “Devil Inside”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).
A charismatic (yet tragic) persona that I haven’t seen since the days of Jim Morrison, in 1991, he won the Brit Award for “Best International Male”.
On this very day, November 22nd 1997, Michael Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Sydney, Australia. His cause of death was recorded as suicide by hanging. In memory of his passing, exactly 27 years ago today, I’ve chosen a ballad that Rolling Stone magazine included on their list of the “500 Best Songs of All-Time”. From their album, “Kick”, here’s INXS, featuring the late, MICHAEL HUTCHENCE, with “NEVER TEAR US APART”….
